This workshop gives teachers practical, hands-on strategies for reshaping their teaching practices using the NGSS framework. Like all See The Change workshops, it is rooted in usable activities. In this case, however, the emphasis is on pedagogy and approach rather than physical science core ideas. The workshop demonstrates how using the three dimensions of learning, and an approach that emphasizes strategies of learning over retention of facts can shift the way we can teach science. Instead of talking about how the framework changes teaching, the workshop shows how the framework can change teaching. Teachers will experience how teaching by starting with questions and giving students the tools for answering those questions can fundamental transform a classroom. The workshop provides ample opportunity for discussion, interrogation, and practical work on transforming teachers’ own lessons.
